Hello All,
I was surfing on the web about daily news and such and I came across this.
http://eldib.wordpress.com/2008/03/30/us-military-buildup-on-iran-border-tehran-says-two-us-air-force-bombers-violated-iran-air-space-us-ready-to-strike-iran-in-early-april-intelligence-source/
It is an article stating that Russian Intelligence has noticed a build up of US activity along the borders of Iran and how the honchos might be considering a strike.
Again this all just alleged.
Realistically though, what can Iran really do to a country thousands of kilometres away? And what possible motive would they have for doing anything at all?
Finally...why are the US there in the first place? Who made them the police of the world?
Just some legitimate questions that I had... Any Answers?

There is many a word to describe the involvement of the U.S. government in the Middle East. "Intervention" is the buzzword of that involvement. The reason the U.S. is concerned with Iran is, in my opinion, threefold:
1. If Iran arms itself with nuclear weapons, it would be considered a threat to U.S. allies in the region, especially Israel. This is highly unlikely: while I believe Ahmadinejad and the Iranian regime to be rather crazy, I don't think they're stupid. They'll know what happen to them.
2. The U.S. has vested interests in Iranian oil fields. I ran across this article from far-right pundit Michelle Malkin claiming how Iran has "our oil" (i.e. U.S.'s). More oil for the U.S. means less money invested in research on and localization of alternative fuel sources.
3. The U.S. needs a boogeyman to justify the violence in Iraq. Iran is that scapegoat. Last year, it was Chavez in South America.
I can't speak for Russia, but I don't think the U.S. govt. is seeking to police the world moreso than to control its resources. Just my 2 cents.
